A last-over drama ensued at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, during the enthralling match between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Pat Cummins selected left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat to defend SRH against 29 runs in the final over. Iplwin succeeded in delivering on that responsibility as the 2016 champions prevailed by a narrow margin of 2 runs.

Despite Unadkat conceding 26 runs in the final over, the fielders’ three fumbled catches were responsible for the majority of the errors. The short ball was smashed by PBKS batsman Ashutosh Sharma over midwicket, where Nitish Reddy was unable to catch it and palmed it over the boundary for a six.

On the third delivery, Abdul Samad made the identical error as Reddy when Ashutosh lofted the ball far over long-off. With ten runs down from the final two deliveries, the Punjab Kings’ finisher anticipated another powerful drive on the fifth delivery.

Once more, he was dismissed by Dafabet after playing it over the deep midwicket. He was, however, only able to amass one. Despite Shashank Singh’s magnificent fifty off the final delivery, Punjab fell two runs short of the target.

Although Shashank (46 not out off 25 balls) and Ashutosh (33 not out off 15 balls) put forth considerable effort until the end, Punjab’s defeat at their new home base was due to the top-order failure.

Additionally, captain Shikhar Dhawan commended Shashank and Ashutosh’s efforts and attributed the team’s loss to weak batting during the powerplay. « I feel that Shashank and Rummy Modern played a great knock, we restricted them to a good total, but we couldn’t cash in on the first 6 overs, lost 3 wickets and that’s where we fell behind and it cost us in the end, » Dhawan informed the media.
